Tailored to follow the trusted tradition of window production whilst observing the latest industry trends, our bespoke window manufacturing service varies between established and innovative methods of production.

The flexibility of this service enables us to produce a variety of windows suitable for all building types including Listed, New-Build, Heritage, Georgian, Edwardian and so on!

Our range of window types include:

  • Bay & Bow

A bay window is a window space projecting outward from the main walls of a building and forming a bay in a room, either square or polygonal in plan. The angles most commonly used on the inside corners of the bay are 90, 135 and 150 degrees. Bay windows are often associated with Victorian architecture. They first achieved widespread popularity in the 1870s.

The windows are commonly used to provide the illusion of a larger room. They are used to increase the flow of natural light into a building as well as provide views of the outside that would be unavailable with an ordinary window.

  • Bespoke

Our bespoke window manufacturing service provides flexibility and choice. Whether you are using drawings or your creative ideas, Applewood Joinery can manufacture to any specification. Our in-house craftsmen produce our joinery products by hand – each individual piece of joinery is given full care and attention, bringing your ideas to fruition.

  • Casement

Applewood Joinery are renowned for our production of bespoke casement windows. Traditionally, casement windows are hung on butt hinges with the casement finishing flush with the frame externally. Ironmongery usually includes casement stays and fasteners with a black monkey tail design. Alternatively, we can produce this type of window with more modern features, including friction stays and an espagnolette locking system.

Stylish and subtle, the Applewood Joinery Casement Window provides unobstructed viewing areas, structural integrity and ample ventilation. Each casement is hinged so the sash opens outward, to the right or left, in a swinging motion. We also manufacture French casement windows, featuring two sashes that open outward without a centre mullion - this creates a clear opening casement push-out window with a clean, defined look.

  • Dormer
  • Sash

Manufactured with the character of your home in mind, the Applewood Joinery Vertical Sliding Sash Window can be traditional or contemporary by design. Our traditional box sash is produced with mortise and tenon joints, single glazed and sealed with putty, often with sash horns to complement. Operation of the window incorporates sash cords with pulleys and counterbalance weights.

Our bespoke service enables us to offer more energy efficient options including double glazing and draught excluders. This helps to keep your heating bills down and protect the environment! The Applewood Joinery Modern Vertical Sliding Sash Window is a contemporary alternative, with a slimmer frame section and spiral balances instead of weights and pulleys. Other design options include the use of slimline glazing bars for a sleek look.
