A Iroko tree
Factual

Botanically known as ‘Chlorophora Excelsa or Chlorophora Regia’, Iroko is widely distributed in Africa, ranging from the west of Sierra Leone, Senegal and Ghana, extending east-bound to Tanzania and Uganda.

Visibly, it is distinguishable by appearance with a golden yellow colour, though the colour tends to darken over time. Iroko has a medium to coarse texture with an interlocked grain.

Naturally, it has been compared to teak, sharing similar robust qualities and excellent strength properties.

Usage

We find that Iroko works quite well. It machines, screws and glues comfortably, though we always have a dust mask or two to hand! Iroko retains exceptional adhesive properties and finishes excellently.

You will find that we use Iroko primarily for external joinery products including decking and staircases.

Customer Advice

Our friendly and professional team of experts are happy to discuss if Iroko is suitable for your joinery requirements.
