Bespoke Windows

Hardwood or Softwood?

Here at Applewood Joinery we make bespoke windows in a number of different types of timber. We manufacture every window to suit individual customer’s needs.

Why choose Hardwood?

Hardwood’s like oak and sapele resist wear and decay better than softwood’s, ensuring a longer lifespan. They are ideal for tailored designs, allowing windows to be crafted with precision to complement various architectural styles. Additionally, hardwood provides superior thermal efficiency, helping to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures by keeping interiors warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Timber’s such as Oak, have a beautiful natural look and will make your home stand out. Oak is naturally strong so it is very resistant to wear and should keep in great condition for a number of years. Additionally, oak is a renewable resource, making it an environmentally friendly option when sourced responsibly.

Here at Applewood Joinery, we pride ourselves on our manufacturing of oak windows and we regularly create these for our customers.

Why choose Softwood?

Softwood is generally more affordable than hardwood, making it a budget-friendly option. It is lightweight and versatile, allowing for intricate designs, particularly in sash windows. Additionally, softwood is easier to work with, making it a popular choice for customizable window designs.

Softwood also can be painted or stained, this matches various architectural types as well as, showing the flexibility that softwood provides. Additionally, softwood trees grow faster, making them a more renewable and environmentally friendly option.
